When you have 9 million people, it is kind of difficult to find a person you are looking for. That’s why Facebook came up with the new messenger usernames and Facebook messenger codes to make it easier for you to discover people you want to talk to.
In the settings menu of the Messenger app, your username can be set and “m.me/username” can be used to discover people and add them to your list and others can add you the similar way. Messenger username can be sent to a friend via link or as a scannable code. Speaking about codes, Facebook says it took great care to make the codes look creative enough.
Messenger Codes are the best way to find people in Messenger, whether you’re standing side-by-side or looking at your computer screen. No matter where you are – online or at an event – all you have to do is scan a code someone shares with you, and then you can start that important conversation. No more back and forth with texts trying to make sure you have the right number saved and awkwardly asking people how to spell their names. Your settings tab in Messenger has your own Messenger Code displayed prominently to scan or share.
We also took special care to make Messenger Codes as beautifully designed as possible so you can use them everywhere – on business cards, online, or in-store and anywhere else you like.
As for the links for usernames, they can be shared anywhere, from email signatures to on a website, says Facebook. The feature is being rolled out to both the Android and iOS versions of the Messenger app.
Knowledge improves by mutual sharing of information. So share it.
