Only recently did Microsoft extend its personal digital assistant, Cortana, to Android and iOS platforms and now, it has introduced Cortana to Android based Cyanogen OS too! Cortana has been spotted in Cyanogen OS version 12.1 with Microsoft teaming up with the Cyanogen OS developers to customize the personal assistant according to the hardware.

It was said that Cyanogen team was looking for a pretty alternative for Google Now in their customized OS. On the other so by integrating Cortana, Microsoft seems to be making sure that its own digital assistant is getting more exposure and will be used by users of other smartphone platforms too. Also, this si not the first time Microsoft has supported Cyanogen. In April last year, Microsoft and Cyanogen announced a partnership which allows pre-installation of Office Suite, Bing, One Note, One Note and Skype into Cyanogen OS.

AS of now, One Plus One handsets are said to be receiving notifications to install build 12.1-YOG7DAS2K1. It is unknown when the rest of devices running on Cyanogen OS will receive the update.
