WhatsApp for Android has hit the big update and got upped to version 2.12.367 and this update is live right now on the Google Play Store! The update brought with it the new features which have been in testing in the beta version of the app since many days. The update also brings improvements to some of those features which have been added by the previous updates.
The first feature worth noticing in the latest update of WhatsApp in Android is the ability to star (to favourite) desired messages. If you wish to mark or save a particular message from any chat for later, just in case you might find it needy as an address or an appointment timing or just anything else you like to, all you need to do is press and hold on that message to add it as your favourite. This way it will be easy t find what you are looking for from a handful of favourite messages instead of all the lengthy chats!
Next is the feature of rich links, meaning that the links you share or receive will come with a thumbnail of the picture on that particular link and a title (if applicable) of whatever it is in that link. It can be an article image, a twitter profile photo, a YouTube video thumbnail, etc.. This feature came quite a while back but then the rich link preview was visible on to the sender, while the receiver will see it as a plain URL text. This time, the sender also has the option to choose whether or not he/she wants to send the URL as a rich link.
The update also added support for Direct Share feature, which is, as of now, exclusively available to devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Whenever you want to share content to a specific person, now you can choose the person’s WhatsApp chat directly instead of going the old way, which selecting WhatsApp first and then searching for the person’s chat. The feature is most likely to allow you to choose between your frequent contacts.
Knowledge improves by mutual sharing of information. So share it.
