The Android M developer Preview came with many things ahead of Android 5.1 Lollipop but one remarkable feature was the “Dark Theme” in the UI settings. Android Lollipop came with a whole light themed UI and most of the Android users missed the dark theme which was existing until Lollipop. So with the inclusion of the dark themed in the settings of the Android 6.0 developer Preview (Settings -> Developer options ->Theme and select your choice), most of the Android fans were hoping that the material design can be used in the dark theme with at least Android 6.0.
Now the choice of dark theme in settings has gone missing in the developer preview since the release of the second build and did not make its appearance in the third build as well. An issue of this has been reported to Google’s forum of android developer preview issues and the response from a project member reads “Our development team has looked into this feature request. This will not be included in the M release. However, this may be considered for future releases.”
So there’s that. The dark themed material design isn’t going to come for even the final release of Marshmallow. What is your opinion about it?
