It’s been in the news since last year that Cortana will come to Android and iOS, and Microsoft also made the word official this May and now things are getting a little closer. Last week, Microsoft has initiated a survey for Windows Insiders participating in which, a few Insiders from the U.S and China got to test the private beta version of the app.
This eventually led the code of the app to get leaked over the internet. Shortly after that, Microsoft has made a new statement publicly that its personal digital assistant, Cortana, will be coming to Android in the form of public beta in the ‘next few weeks’. People at ZDNet are the first to receive this piece of information.
From a Microsoft spokesperson: “In the spirit of the Windows Insider Program, we’re testing the Cortana for Android beta with a limited number of users in the U.S. and China before releasing the beta publicly in the next few weeks.”
Cortana for Android and iOS is expected to be very similar like its Windows counterpart. However, as Microsoft pointed out, it will not be able to support each and every feature that its Windows version is able to.
