Windows Store Universal beta

Microsoft has pushed out the next new build of the Technical Preview program of Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Insiders in the fast ring today. The build which is numbered 10080 and the OS version which shows as 10.0.12562.84 in the About section of Settings has brought in a lot of new features and very many needed improvements to the already existing build.

The build 10080 brings the very much needed Office Suite with  Word, Excel and PowerPoint and OneNote universal Preview apps. Since how long have you been waiting for these? These can be downloaded from the new beta version of the universal Store app for Windows 10 Phones.

With a beta version of the unified Store, users get to see the first look of how an all-in-one store for all your devices looks and feels like. The design is said to be similar to that of the PC version. The carrier billing which was announced at build 2015 is not enabled in this version of the unified Store yet. The new Store has also got movies, Music and TV show pages for the users to purchase and once purchased, these can be accessed across all their devices. While the Movies&TV shows are available right now, Music seems it might take a little longer to be functional.

The Xbox app which was available for Windows 10 PC is now available for Phones as well, and can be downloaded via the beta version of the Store. There is a Music Preview app, a new Video app, a new Camera app which can be made as the default camera app by going into Settings -> Photos & Camera. However Microsoft mentioned that high end devices ( 1520, 1020, 930, 830, 640, and 640XL) would have to use the Lumia Camera app to extract the full functionality of the camera as they have some features which are not supported by the new Camera app. It is promised that wit subsequent updates the app will be acquiring all the necessary features. The new build also got some pretty necessary fixes too.
