Usage of Google Maps is a quite frequent task to most of the Android users.  The routes, places and navigation are all effective but the problem arises when there is no WiFi connection or no network to rely on mobile data. At those situations , Offline Maps can be of great help.

To use Google Maps Offline, with a internet connection search for a desired location. Once you have pointed out the place, type “OK Maps” in the search bar or tap the mic and say “OK Maps”. The device will then ask you if you want to save the Map. Tap on ‘Save’ and the map will be available for offline usage. Alternatively, you could tap the search bar, scroll down and tap on ‘Save map to view offline’.

Another way is to place a pin on a location you are searching for – you could do this by tapping and holding on a place on the map, and a red pin will appear on the screen at that location – and then scroll up from the address bar below and tap on the ‘save map to view offline’ option.

While offline, you could zoom in and out on the map, but the flip side is that no voice navigation is possible, there would be no option of satellite view and also the saved map would be available only for a period of 30 days.
