Microsoft Lumia 540

Get ready to welcome another member to the Lumia family, this time with one again from the 5-series. Microsoft today announced another affordable Lumia Windows Phone – the Lumia 540. With a price that could be less than $150 ( around INR 9,400), Microsoft is aiming to provide a appreciable smartphone experience to the end user.

The Lumia 540 is a dual SIM model with a 5-inch HD display, 8 GB internal storage expandable upto 128 GB via a microSD card, an 8 MP rear-camera with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter all powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 GB RAM and a 2200 mAh battery.

It comes with a complete Microsoft experience with Microsoft Office suite and Skype. On the software side, the Lumia 540 has Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Denim pre installed, and will be upgradable to Windows 10 when it becomes available. But Microsoft also mentions that because of the hardware limitations, complete experience of Windows 10 might not be possible as some features might not support the existing hardware.

The Lumia 540 will be launched into markets of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Europe in early May this year.
