For those of you guys who have tried every single way that comes to your mind to enable the new calling (VOIP) feature on WhatsApp, here’s a good news – the version of WhatsApp that supports this feature is now live directly from the WhatsApp official website.
Downloading and installing this version (2.12.19) of the app on your Android devices will change the UI of WhatsApp’s version on your Android device into a three-tabbed view and you will be able to place calls to your WhatsApp contacts. The link for the latest version of the app is given at the end of the post.
This also means that you do not anymore require an ‘invite’ call on WhatsApp from a user who has already got the feature enabled on his device.
By adding this feature, this new version of WhatsApp no more allows you to make calls from your mobile network while you are inside the app, like earlier. So to make a normal network call, you have to reach the phone book on your device.
This VOIP calling on WhatsApp is soon going to come to other major platforms -Windows Phone and iOS too. Stay tuned and we’ll let you know.
