WhatsApp for Android already has the good old ‘backup and restore’ feature, but it has its own load of work to be carried out and while re-installing the app, you may not end up with the right folder on your phone or SD card that has the complete backup!

WhatsApp Google Drive Integration

It seems like WhatsApp has also recognized this as a more or less annoying issue and from the news around internet, it appears that they are in plans of implementing a new function of backup that stores all the chats and media from the app to the user’s Google Drive.

From the screenshots at DroidApp.nl, it can be implied that the data (chat history and media, except videos) from WhatsApp can be backed up to Google Drive through Cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.

Are you relieved that WhatsApp is introducing such a feature?
