Android Lollipop 5.1

Google has officially announced Android 5.1 OS today, which is an update to the existing 5.0 Lollipop OS. The new OS, says Google, will bring stability and performance improvements along with a few new features.

The following are the new features that come with Android 5.1, which enhance the Android experience of a Lollipop user:

– Device Protection:

If an Android device running on Lollipop 5.1 is lost or stolen, it remains locked until the owner signs into it with his/her Google account. This holds true even if an unknown person resets the device to factory settings.

– HD Voice Calling :

High definition voice calling feature will be supported by Android 5.1 for all compatible phones.

– Support for multiple SIM cards:

Android 5.1 OS now adds support for managing multiple SIM cards with mobile phones having multiple SIM slots.

Along with these features and enhancements, Android 5.1 also allows users to join Wi-Fi networks and control paired Bluetooth settings directly from the Quick Settings bar.

The Android 5.1 OS is right now to some Nexus devices, which among them could be a Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 (2012).
