Microsoft may soon release a new feature for Windows Phone devices and that would be the finger print scanning technology! With the iPhone (since iPhone 5S) and some of the Samsung Galaxy devices already having the Touch ID feature, the next device to enjoy this would be the Windows Phone from Microsoft.
Qualcomm has announced a new fingerprint reader today, which makes use of ultrasonic waves for the need of verification of user’s finger print. According to the company, this new technology called ‘Sense ID’ can effectively scan the user’s finger print even in the not so normal cases i.e if finger is a little wet or dirty or even through materials like glass, plastic aluminium, stainless steel and also sapphire. This explanation about the device makes it seem like this will give less number of rejected attempts and is going to be far more effective than the Touch ID which was introduced by Apple and also which was implemented by Samsung.
SenseID is going to be incorporated in Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 810 and 425 processors. According to Microsoft, it’s going to release Lumia devices with Snapdragon 810 processor this year. Putting two and two together, we can hope that either one or more flagship devices from Microsoft this year will be coming with Sense ID technology.
