Windows 10 for Windows Phone

Microsoft has announced its latest OS, yesterday, for Windows PC as well as Windows Phone and that is the Windows 10 . It has also showed off a few Lumias running the Windows 10 OS at the said event.

Previously, Microsoft has confirmed that all Windows Phones running Windows Phone 8.1 will be sure to receive the latest Windows 10 OS for phones, but Chris Weber, Vice President of Sales of the Microsoft Mobile Devices Group made it a little more clear as to what that confirmation might mean.

He says, “Windows 10 has been designed to run well on today’s Lumia phones. Like any upgrade to a new operating system, not every phone will upgrade or support all possible Windows 10 features, and certain features and experiences will require more advanced future hardware.

This can be an expecting issue as recently with the Denim update too, Microsoft has made it clear that not all Lumia devices which receive the denim update will get an upgrade to the firmware meaning that those devices will not support all of the enhancements and improvements that Denim might have to offer. Now, the same is being repeated with Windows 10.

He adds, “Our goal is for the majority of the Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 to join the Windows ecosystem along with an expected hundreds of millions of PCs, tablets and other devices running the next generation of Windows.

Well, this could mean that a few of the older Lumia devices , whose hardware would not support for all the features that Windows 10 brings in, might have to stay back. As of now, there is no word on which Lumia devices will not get to enjoy the total of Windows 10.

Undoubtedly, all the new devices launched by Microsoft such as the Lumia 735, 830 and even the recent 532 as well as 435 will be capable of handling Windows 10 perfectly, but few of the older devices will be at stake and we do not know which.

However, the preview program for Windows Phones for Windows 10 will hopefully start in the next month, according to Microsoft. So stay tuned to our site to get notified about all the details.
