Samsung India has launched four new smartphones from its Galaxy family, the Galaxy A3, A5, E5 and the Galaxy E7 at India yesterday. The four smartphones are priced in the range of INR 19,000 to INR 25,000 which are clearly aimed at the mid-level consumers.

Speaking about the phones, Asim Warsi, VP, marketing, mobile & IT at Samsung India says “Both the phones sit bang at the centre of the mid-market segment and address different need sets. A3 and A5 are targeting design conscious consumers to whom what the phone projects about their personality and image is important. E7 and E5 are targeted at young consumers, in their education phase or early years of jobs.”

The Galaxy A3 is a smartphone with 4.5 inch qHD scree, 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory  expandable upto 64 GB with a microSD card, 8 MP rear camera, 5MP front camera all powered by a 1,900 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A5 ranks prior to the Galaxy A3 in terms of certain specifications. It is smartphone with 5-inch 720p display, 2GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory expandable upto 64GB with a microSD card, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, all with a 2,300 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A5 and the A3 come with metal chassis unlike the Galaxy E5 and E7. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 20,500 and the A5 is priced at Rs. 25, 500 for Indian consumers.

While the Galaxy A5 and A3 have been available in some countries by now, the Galaxy E5 and the E7 are the new members that Samsung added to its Galaxy family.

The Galaxy E5 is a dual SIM smartphone that sports a 5-inch display and has most of the specs similar to that of the Galaxy A3. It features 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB memory expandable upto 64 GB with a microSD card, 8 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and a bigger battery than the Galaxy A3 of 2400 mAh.

The Galaxy E7 is a bit more superior than the E3. It comes with a 5.5 inch display and 13 MP rear camera and a bigger battery of 2950 mAh. The rest all specifications are similar to that of the E5.

All the four smartphones come with the HD Super AMOLED display, which Samsung took a first step in introducing to the mid-level smartphones. Previously, it was only for the company’s flagship devices like the Galaxy S4, S5.

On the software side, all the phones come with Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with an exclusive TouchWiz software installed. While the specifications of all the four phones seem to be more or less the same, connectivity divides them. While the Galaxy A3 and A5 enjoy the capability of LTE connectivity, the Galaxy E5 and E7 are kept satisfied with 3G connectivity.
