Cortana, as it says, does try to make life of Windows Phone users a bit easier. When you turn on ‘Quiet Hours’ in Cortana’s notebook on Windows Phone, she takes all the responsibility to see that you are not disturbed by any calls or messages until you turn off those ‘Quiet Hours’.

But there may be also some people, to whom you give the flexibility to call or text you even when you wanted some ‘Quiet Hours’. Adding those people to ‘inner circle’ makes Cortana understand that, it is OK to allow calls or texts from these people even during ‘Quiet Hours’.

This post will make it clear to you about what actually inner circle is and how to use it with Cortana on a Windows Phone.

How to add people to ‘inner circle’ on Windows Phone:

1. Go to Cortana by pressing search button search button windows phone to the bottom right of the phone.

2. Tap on Cortana’s Notebook (the three bars) cortana notebook icon and go to ‘Inner Circle‘.

3. You can select a name from the suggested list of people or you can tap on Addadd icon windows phone and then select a name from the contacts.

4. If you wish, you can give the person a nick name and then tap on Save.

How to remove people from ‘inner circle’ on Windows Phone:

1. Go to Cortana by pressing search button search button windows phone to the bottom right of the phone.

2. Tap on Cortana’s Notebook (the three bars) cortana notebook icon and go to ‘Inner Circle‘.

3. To remove a person from the inner circle, tap and hold on that person’s name. From the dropdown, tao on Remove.

4. Tap on Remove again to confirm.

It is possible that Cortana adds some people directly from the ‘Rooms’ you are in. You can remove them from ‘inner circle’ at any time. Learn more about Rooms in Windows Phone.

Note: Cortana is presently available only for Windows Phone 8.1 and in Australia, Canada, China, India, UK and the USA.
