Rooms and Groups are one of the ways  that Windows Phone lets its users stay in touch with people that matter the most. By inviting people to the Rooms you create, you can chat with them or share things with them. In the same way, you can add people to a Group and be in touch with all of them, at once. This post will deal with creating Rooms, inviting people to Rooms, using a Room, editing or deleting a Room and leaving a Room. Rooms:

Rooms is a feature n Windows Phone that lets you invite people to share pictures, calendar schedules, videos etc with them or you can also start a group chat with them.

It is to be noted that Rooms are a invite-only feature. That is, you can always share your photos videos, etc with the people you invite but to be able to chat with someone from a room, they have to accept your invite. When you invite someone to join a room you create or to a room you are already in, they will receive an SMS with a link to join.

How to create a new Room on Windows Phone:

1. From the Start, go to ‘People’. Swipe to reach ‘Rooms and Groups’.

2. Tap on ‘New’ and then tap on ‘Room’.

3. Give a name for your Room and then tap on ‘Save’.

4. To invite someone to the new Room that you created, tap on ‘Invite’ and choose a person from your Contacts list. Only the contacts with mobile numbers will be visible in the list.

5. Tap on the person’s name. If that person has many contact numbers, tap on ‘Mobile Phone’ and then tap ‘Send’.

6. Do the same way to invite more people to your Room. Every person that you sent an invite will receive an SMS with a link in it to join.

7. After you are done with inviting the required people to your Room, tap on ‘Done’.

How to Use Rooms on Windows Phone:

1. From the Start screen, go to ‘People’ and swipe to reach ‘Rooms and Groups’.

2. If you are user of multiple Rooms, tap on any Room that you want to use at that moment.

– To start a Group chat or to join an already existing Group Chat, swipe over to ‘Chats’. Select the existing chat you want to join and type the message you want to send and click on ‘Send’ or to start a new chat, type the message  you want to send  in the text box and click on ‘Send’.

– To view the Room’s calendar, swipe over to ‘Calendar’. To make changes in any of the appointments, tap on the appointment. To add a new appointment, tap on ‘New’.

– To view the pictures or videos shared by the members of the Room, swipe over to Pictures. Tap on ‘More’ (three dots to the screen’s bottom) -> Refresh to see the latest photos and videos. To add any new photo, tap on ‘New’ and select the pictures or videos you want to share with the Room members.

– To change the background, tap on ‘More’ (three dots to the screen’s bottom) and then tap on ‘Choose Background’.

3. You can always pin the Room to Start screen, to receive Live updates from the Rom members.

How to edit or delete your own Room:

This option is available only if you are the creator of any of the Rooms you are a member of.

1. From the Start screen, go to ‘People’ and swipe to reach ‘Rooms and Groups’.

2. Tap on the Room you want to edit and swipe to ‘Members’.

– To invite more people, tap on ‘Members’ and then tap on ‘Invite’.

– To remove an existing member from the Room, tap on ‘Members’, tap on that particular contact and tap on ‘Remove’.

– To give the Room a new name, tap on ‘More’ (three dots to the screen’s bottom) and then choose ‘Rename’.

3. To delete the Room, tap on ‘More’ (three dots to the screen’s bottom) and then choose ‘Delete’.

To leave a Room:

1. From the Start screen, go to ‘People’ and swipe to reach ‘Rooms and Groups’.

2. Tap on the Room you want to edit and swipe to ‘Members’.

3. Tap on ‘Leave Room’ and tap on ‘Leave’.
