Microsoft has discontinued support of Skype for Windows Phone 7. Even though majority of Windows Phone users have moved to Windows Phone 8, there are people who still use phones with Windows Phone 7.

So everyone can benefit from the latest improvements, we sometimes retire older versions of Skype across all platforms, including mobile devices. For that reason, we are permanently retiring all Skype apps for Windows Phone 7”, says Skype’s official blog post.
Consequently, within the next few weeks, no Windows Phone 7 device will allow the user will not be able to sign in and use Skype.
