Skype on Windows Phone updated 2.19

Microsoft released an update to the Skype app for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1. This update brings some changes to others and the attaractive among those is that, on Windows Phone 8.1, support of Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana is added to Skype!

Updated today to version 2.19.0.172, Skype allows users in The US who have Windows Phone 8.1 installed can call on Skype using Cortana. Microsoft mentioned- Now you can start Skype video and audio calls by simply asking Cortana something like “Skype get Lara Kingwell on the screen”

The other features of this updates include:

  • See your Skype notification on the Action centre:

    Along with the other app, message and call notifications, Skype notifications will also be available on Windows Phone 8.1 with this update.

  • Increased language support:

    Language support has been increased from 19 to 51 languages on Skype for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 with this update.

  • Edit Message:

    Now user can edit the last sent message. This feature is includedon the request of users.

  • Improved notifications and Fast app resume:

    Push notifications are improved and the resume time taken by the app is reduced.
