Last week, we have seen that BlackBerry and Amazon made a deal in making all the Android apps from the Amazon app store available on BlackBerry 10 devices. You can read about it here, if you did not know. But that will be set to motion only after the release of BlackBerry 10.3 OS update. Meanwhile, you can install Android apps from the Amazon Appstore on your BlackBerry, even without the BlackBerry 10.3 update. Ready to know how?
Download and Install Amazon Appstore:
All you need to do is download the Amazon Appstore on your BlackBerry Q5, Z30, Z10 or Q10. In your BlackBerry browser, head to www.amazon.com/getappstore. Tap on the Download the Amazon Appstore button. The download should start automatically. If it does not, then tap on the three dots button to the bottom right of the phone’s screen and select Downloads.
The App store will start installing after ‘processing’ is done. Tap on the Install button, tap on the pop-up windows in which you need to accept the permissions.
Launch and Sign-in into Amazon Appstore:
After the installation is complete, launch/open the Amazon Appstore by tapping it on its icon on the home screen of your BlackBerry 10 device. If you already have an Amazon account, then Sign-in with those credentials. If not, then tap on Create Account and create a new Amazon account and sign-in.
Download desired apps:
After you have logged in into the Amazon Appstore using your Amazon account, then go through the list of apps available and select any app you wish to install on your BlackBerry 10 device. To search for a particular app, tap on the search icon to the top right and enter the app name. To browse through categories, tap on the three dots to the top left of the phone screen.
Remember that this is not the official BlackBerry support and so some apps may work well while some don’t. Download your favorite Android apps on your BlackBerry and let us know what your experience was in the comments.
